Mapping the Y chromosomes and mitochondrial DNA can trace back movement of these large communities and their interactions with each other. The link between the genetic evidence of interactions and the spread of proto-indo-european language is justified through the higher prevalence of the concerned y chromosome haplogroup in higher castes associated with the preserving of sanskrit, one of the oldest indo european languages documented.
